Welcome to Olympio
beach bar-cafe.
Our cafe is in the small fishing harbour in
the village of Makrigialos (meaning "long beach"). Makrigialos is in
the southeast part of the Island of Crete, 25 Km east of Ierapetra,
and 35 Km south of Sitia town, in the Lassithi area.
Before Olympio became a cafe, it used to be a
storehouse and after that the home of my parents- in-law. It is made
of stone, built in 1936. We renovated it and converted it to a
cafe bar in 1996 with a nice terrace under the old tamarisk trees
with a view of the bay and the Libyan Sea. Dimitris and Hara
offer you everything you may need during the hot days & nights
of the summer.
We open from early morning until late at night
every day, from April to October. We serve Breakfast, Delicious
Snacks, Toasted Sandwiches, Omelettes, Salads, and Pizza for lunch
or dinner. Coffees, Fresh fruit juices, Cold Beers & Spirits,
Deserts, Fruits, Milk shakes, Ice creams, Long drinks &
cocktails. Here you can relax and get yourself into the Cretan
pace of life.
Why not take a seat by the
sea, under a tamarisk tree and sip your first brandy, ouzo or raki.
Nibble on a nut or even better a Cretan meze, a salad, or
snack. Sniff Crete and you could become intoxicated by the
tang of fresh lemons and the delicate carnation blossoms, the
wholesome smell of freshly baked bread or the fermenting grapes from
the wine harvest.
Cretans as you will soon discover, are
naturally hospitable people and generous to the extreme in a way
that is so much part of the Mediterranean. You are welcome to our
beautiful place. We are very happy to take good care of our
customers as much as we can, so that you have happy
holidays. CAFE OLYMPIO is the best place to be.
In this website you'll find
some info & photos about the village, the life and some links to
continue your surfing. Please don't forget to send feedback, we
always like to hear from you Thanks, Efcharisto poly.
